Frequently asked questions

What is a "deductible"? High or low?

The deductible is what you pay out of pocket first when claiming. Higher deductible means a cheaper premium but more out of pocket when something happens. Common levels are $0-$1,000, corresponding to roughly 5%-20% premium discounts. Choose $0 for peace of mind, or a high deductible on a tight budget. Note the difference between Per Policy (charged once per policy) and Per Claim (charged on every claim).

What does "pre-existing stability period" mean?

For chronic conditions like hypertension or diabetes, insurers require the condition to have been stable (no new symptoms, no medication changes, no hospitalization) for a period before coverage. A shorter stability period (e.g. 90 days) is more lenient. If the condition is unstable or undeclared, claims may be denied. Always disclose honestly.

Why do some plans show "manual underwriting"?

Some complex cases (advanced age, multiple pre-existing conditions) cannot be priced automatically online and need manual underwriting by a licensed broker for accurate pricing. Leave your contact details and an advisor will reach out within 24 hours.

How soon do I get the policy after buying online?

Healthy applicants / stable pre-existing conditions can be issued instantly online; usually a policy PDF and 24-hour emergency line arrive within 2-5 minutes. The insurance proof required for a Super Visa is included.

Can I get a refund if my visa is refused?

Yes. Cancelling before the policy takes effect usually gets a full refund, and visa refusal (including Super Visa refusal) qualifies: once you receive the IRCC refusal letter, just contact the licensed broker or the insurer to submit the cancellation; some insurers may charge a small fee. If the policy is already in effect and you have entered Canada, the Refund Policy terms apply.

Which insurers support direct hospital billing?

Several insurers can arrange direct billing through their 24-hour assistance centres: GMS can pay providers directly, Destination Canada arranges direct billing via the GEM assistance network when feasible, RIMI (MSH) arranges it where possible, and 21st Century has a direct-pay option via StandbyMD. Call the assistance centre before treatment to confirm; if direct billing is unavailable, pay first, keep receipts and claim afterwards.

Can Super Visa insurance be paid monthly?

Yes. TuGo, Manulife (CoverMe) and 21st Century offer monthly instalments on 1-year Super Visa policies; refund and cancellation rules for monthly policies may differ from single-payment policies, so confirm before buying. Monthly premiums start from about $99/month ($100,000 coverage, $0 deductible, youngest age band), rising with age — check the live quote for your case.
